WHY DOES IT MATTER?

We are in the midst of an environmental crisis. The planet is heating up, air is becoming more polluted, waste is building up in the oceans, sea levels are rising. This will continue to happen, forcing people off of their land, and killing millions upon millions of animals each year. Humans caused this, but we have the power to change it. We can’t allow world leaders to push climate change aside like a kid would push away a dreaded homework assignment. We have to take action—individually, locally, nationally, and globally—to change our future.

TAKE THE CHALLENGE

Take This Week's Challenge
Get involved by taking one of our biweekly or monthly challenges. For two weeks, try making a small habit change to reduce your environmental impact. We're sure that you'll find it easier than you think!

OUR NAME

Five billion is the number of years until the sun explodes. Earth could last just as long, but only if we take care of her. If humans continue to pollute the way we do now, we will destroy the planet that we call home in hundreds—not billions—of years.

CLIMATE CHANGE: WHAT ARE YOUR FEARS

Take the Survey
Project 5 Billion is conducting a survey to find out what young people fear most about climate change and environmental damage. Our goal with this research is to explore the ways in which youths combat their fears and to create a community of people who share these fears and anxieties.

If you're 25 or younger, please fill out this quick survey to help us with our research!

Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it is the only thing that ever has.
